Have you ever made puppy chow? If not, today is the day. It’s seriously so yummy and this easy s’more puppy chow recipe takes it up a few hundred notches. Traditionally a puppy chow recipe has Chex Cereal, chocolate, peanut butter and powdered sugar. And really, what can make these ingredients even better? Adding s’more yummy stuff (see what I did there?).

I love making puppy chow for all occasions because it’s super simple and it makes a ton.

Easy S’more Puppy Chow Recipe:

Are you drooling yet? I promise this recipe will be a hit with everyone that tries it. And it only take 10 minutes.

So, first things first…let’s shop.

Shopping List:

• 1 Box Rice Chex Cereal
• Powdered Sugar
• Peanut Butter
• Butter
• Vanilla (Click to Learn to Make Your Own Vanilla)
• Semi Sweet Chocolate Chips
• Mini Marshmallows
• Hershey Drops
• Teddy Grahams

Now that you have all of the ingredients it’s time to get cooking. In 10 short minutes you will have a treat that is sure to please.

Easy S’mores Puppy Chow Recipe

• Total Time: 10 minutes

Ingredients

• 9 Cups Chex Mix
• 1 Cup Semisweet Chocolate Chips
• 1/2 Cup Peanut Butter
• 1 TBS Butter
• 1 tsp Vanilla
• 2 Cups Powdered Sugar
• 2 Cups Teddy Grahams
• 1 Package of Hershey Drops (or chocolate chips if you can’t find Hershey Drops)
• 2 Cups Mini Marshmallows

Instructions

Pour Chex mix into a large mixing bowl.

Pour semisweet chocolate chips, peanut butter, and butter into a microwave safe bowl and begin to melt 30 seconds at a time. Continue to stir every 30 seconds until completely melted. Blend together until fully mixed.

Add the vanilla to chocolate mixture and stir.

Pour the chocolate mixture over the Chex cereal and stir until the cereal is completely coated.

Add powdered sugar to the cereal mixture and toss/stir until the cereal is coated with powdered sugar.

Add the Teddy Grahams, Hershey Drops, and Marshmallows and stir.

Notes

The chocolate can burn easily, so only cook 30 seconds at a time.

Pro Tips:

• Use plenty of powdered sugar. Really, the measurements can be varied depending on your personal preference.
• Don’t over mix. If you over mix, you run the risk of breaking the cereal…mix gently.
• Store in an airtight container.

I promised easy, and it doesn’t get much more easy than one-stop shopping. They had everything I needed to put this fun s’mores charcuterie board together. Entertaining doesn’t need to be costly or stressful, especially when you have a go-to store like Dollar General in your neighborhood!

S’mores Ingredients:

Shopping List at Dollar General:

• HONEY MAID Graham Crackers
• HERSHEY’S Milk Chocolate Bars
• JET PUFFED Marshmallows

Other Items needed:

• Charcuterie Board: You can use anything for this…a cutting board, large platter, or charcuterie board. If you are using a surface that’s not food safe, place a piece of parchment paper down before placing your s’mores ingredients.
• Skewers
• Chafing Dish Fuel Cans: If you want to provide a place to roast the marshmallows, these can be a fun option. If you have a fire pit or BBQ, you can skip the chafing cans.

Now that you have all of the supplies, it’s time to put this s’mores charcuterie board together.

How To Make this Charcuterie Board:

• Unwrap the HONEY MAID Graham Crackers, HERSHEY’S Milk Chocolate Bars, and JET PUFFED Marshmallows
• Break the HERSHEY’S Milk Chocolate Bars into squares
• Place the HERSHEY’S Milk Chocolate Bars and HONEY MAID Graham Crackers around your board, keeping them together in small clusters.
• Fill in the rest of the board with the JET PUFFED Marshmallows.
• Add chafing dish fuel cans and skewers if you are using them.

That’s it! You are ready for your guests. Place your charcuterie board in a place that people can gather around it and see how social your party becomes. If you are hosting a large party, I recommend doing several charcuterie boards so your guests all have access to it.

My kitchen seems to have a revolving door on it during the summer. It’s a never ending flow of hungry kids grabbing handfuls of goldfish crackers, unwrapping sticky granola bars and dripping popsicle trails across the floor. They never seem satisfied.

Feed the kids! It’s a relentless job for moms during the summer.

But if we can keep everyone fed, it seems like the day goes more smoothly. Less fighting, less whining, and maybe even a few less hangry moments from mom.

And what beats a handful of marshmallows, peanut buttery goodness and a salty crunch?  This Peanut Butter S’mores snack mix is likely to be gobbled up pretty quickly-but it will also keep those tummies full!

Thinking of my sweet boys with their gap toothed grins, their skinned summer knees, and their never ending appetite, I can’t help but also think about the 1 in 6 kids in America who may be hungry right now. Where are their sweet smiles? It’s hard to be happy when your stomach is growling.

So many kids don’t know where their next meal is coming from today. When they are in school they can at least count on that school lunch, but during the summer, there’s not a revolving door in their kitchen. No bowl full of snack mix to munch.

So while my kids are hungry, I want them to be hungry to help too! Let’s make a big bowl of this snack mix, gather the kids around and talk about how WE can help fight hunger.

Ingredients

• Mini Marshmallows
• Mini Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups
• Pretzels
• Teddy Grahams (chocolate and honey)
• Reese’s Pieces
• Peanuts

Instructions

Grab a large bowl.

Dump equal parts of each ingredient in the bowl and mix it up. You can make this as large or as small as you want-use the whole bags of things or just use half, whatever works for you!

• Set aside a jar in your house and have everyone toss their loose change in to donate
• Collect food for your local food bank
• Volunteer at your local food bank or food pantry
• Plant a garden and share the food with your local food pantry

You are about to experience a life-changing dessert with these Mini S’mores Pies. They have all of the yummy goodness of s’mores with all kinds of extra possibilities. These are a definite crowd pleaser, so add it to your menu and you will be the talk of the town!

I served these fun S’mores pies at my S’more Fun Backyard BBQ Party for dessert and everyone LOVED them.  I knew for sure the kiddos would like them, but the adults were crowding to the front of the line.  This was super easy and fun, just a little update on an old favorite.

Seriously-these are yummy-especially because you can create your own in whatever way you want!

Mini S’mores Pies Summer Dessert Idea:

Shopping List:

• Mini Graham Cracker Crust Pie Tins
• Mini Marshmallows
• Chocolate Chips
• Peanut Butter Chips
• White Chocolate Chips
• Mini Snickers
• Mini Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups
• Toffee Bits
• Any other toppings you want

I started with mini graham cracker crust pie tins and added any and all toppings I could think of.  Of course with any good s’more you need three main ingredients-graham crackers, chocolate, and marshmallows-and then I got creative from there.

I love chocolate and peanut butter together so I had peanut butter chips and mini Reese’s Cups. I also had white chocolate chips, toffee bits, and Snickers.  You can use any ingredients that sound good to you.  I served our toppings in these cute red and white checkered cups…ADORABLE!

I had everyone go through the line and build their S’mores Pie, which was half the fun.  Everyone was visiting and laughing together…such a fun time.

Then I put them on a grill to cook.

You will want to place them on the top rack of your grill and close the lid so that the marshmallows toast. They only take 4-5 minutes on the grill. If you have an open fire pit you can place them on a rack on top of the fire. The marshmallows won’t get toasted the same as they do on the grill, but they do melt together.

Don’t these look amazing?!  I promise you won’t be disappointed with this dessert…so fun to make, and so yummy to eat!! A perfect summer dessert!
