Traditionally a puppy chow recipe has Chex Cereal, chocolate, peanut butter and powdered sugar. And really, what can make these ingredients even better? Adding s’more yummy stuff (see what I did there?).
I love making puppy chow for all occasions because it’s super simple and it makes a ton.

- 1 Box Rice Chex Cereal
- Powdered Sugar
- Peanut Butter
- Butter
- Vanilla (Click to Learn to Make Your Own Vanilla)
- Semi Sweet Chocolate Chips
- Mini Marshmallows
- Hershey Drops
- Teddy Grahams
Now that you have all of the ingredients it’s time to get cooking. In 10 short minutes you will have a treat that is sure to please.

Ingredients
- 9 Cups Chex Mix
- 1 Cup Semisweet Chocolate Chips
- 1/2 Cup Peanut Butter
- 1 TBS Butter
- 1 tsp Vanilla
- 2 Cups Powdered Sugar
- 2 Cups Teddy Grahams
- 1 Package of Hershey Drops (or chocolate chips if you can’t find Hershey Drops)
- 2 Cups Mini Marshmallows
Instructions
Pour Chex mix into a large mixing bowl.
Pour semisweet chocolate chips, peanut butter, and butter into a microwave safe bowl and begin to melt 30 seconds at a time. Continue to stir every 30 seconds until completely melted. Blend together until fully mixed.
Add the vanilla to chocolate mixture and stir.
Pour the chocolate mixture over the Chex cereal and stir until the cereal is completely coated.
Add powdered sugar to the cereal mixture and toss/stir until the cereal is coated with powdered sugar.
Add the Teddy Grahams, Hershey Drops, and Marshmallows and stir.
Notes
The chocolate can burn easily, so only cook 30 seconds at a time.
Pro Tips:
- Use plenty of powdered sugar. Really, the measurements can be varied depending on your personal preference.
- Don’t over mix. If you over mix, you run the risk of breaking the cereal…mix gently.
- Store in an airtight container.
