10 Fun Summer Dates:
#1-Outdoor Theater or Concert: Most areas probably have some sort of outdoor theater that features musicals and plays throughout the summer, or you can probably find a fun outdoor concert to attend. Sit under the stars and listen to great music or watch a great show. Bring a jacket and a blanket in case it gets chilly. And don’t forget to pack some treats!
#2-Picnic and Games: You’ve probably thought about packing a picnic dinner, but what if you packed a picnic, headed somewhere scenic, spread out your blanket and after you ate dinner, played cards? A unique and fun twist on a simple picnic that will keep you having fun together for hours.
#3-Ride a Ski Lift: This idea is clearly going to depend on where you live, but in our neck of the woods a nearby ski resort has summer night ski lift rides. The lift moves slower than normal so it takes an hour to ride up the mountain and back down, giving you plenty of time to snuggle, talk or eat snacks while you enjoy the scenic view. See if something like this is available near you!
#4-Drive In Movie or Outdoor Movie: Bring back an old classic and throw some pillows, blankets, and treats in the back of your truck or minivan and find a drive-in movie theater. Snuggle up and enjoy the show. Don’t have a drive-in theater near you? How about creating your own with a projector and the side of a house? A fun way to watch a movie!
#5-Yard Games: Grab a group of couples and head to a nice grassy area like a park or a large backyard and play yard games. Some areas will have disc golf courses you could try your hand at, otherwise try croquet, badminton, volleyball or bocce ball or any fun outdoor game. A little fun competition between couples-maybe the losers buy dessert?
#6-Bike & Eat: Got bikes? Why not hop on them, find a nice area for riding and go for a bike ride. Need to spice it up a little? Stop somewhere for dinner and then hop back on your bike and head somewhere else for dessert. You’ll get active AND get great food-win win right?
#7-Rent a Kayak or a Raft: Like adventure? Head to the nearest water source and rent a kayak, a raft or a tube and get wet! You might be able to ride a tube down a river together or take a kayak and paddle around a lake.
#8-Make S’mores: Find somewhere fun to build a bonfire and make S’mores! This will give you a fun chance to sit around the campfire and talk while you eat a summer classic. Or if you want to get creative, make a fun spin-off of S’mores like banana boats or S’mores Mini Pies!
#9-Go to a Waterpark or Amusement Park: You probably take your kids to the waterpark in the summer, but have you ever gone with your spouse? Or grabbed a group of couples and headed to ride the rides at the local amusement park? You’ll have fun getting to act like a kid again without having to worry about your little ones. Head down those water slides and ride those roller coasters to your heart’s content.
#10-Take a Hike: Find a nice hike in your area that fits your ambition level. Grab dinner from a favorite to go restaurant or pack a picnic and head out on your hike. Find somewhere nice partway through the hike to sit and eat your dinner and then finish your hike. Another chance to enjoy nature, good food, and your date!
