A Peek at the Fun: As if waffles aren’t already amazing enough, try these dessert waffles! Chocolate cake mix waffles topped with ice cream, chocolate sauce, whipped cream and sprinkles for a perfect birthday sundae! Or top it with anything you want and eat it anytime!
Waffles are a fabulous food. You can call them “breakfast” but top them with fun things like peanut butter or Nutella or strawberries and cream or whatever it is that you love. And it’s totally legit because you’re just eating “breakfast.”
And while waffles are always fabulous, today we are taking them to a new level and making them dessert waffles! Now, you maybe can’t get away with calling these ones breakfast exactly, but they make a pretty great dessert. Perfect as a fun birthday idea or you could just host a dessert waffle party and have a variety of topping and let everyone top their own. Either way, they are so much fun!
Seriously-who wouldn’t want to eat that waffle?! And the possibilities with these dessert waffles are endless!
Dessert Waffle Recipe:
These are super easy to make because you just use a cake mix! And then the rest is up to you to put on it what you want!

These dessert waffles are easy to make and fun to top with ice cream, toppings, whipped cream, and sprinkles! Makes a wonderful and fun sundae!
- Prep Time: 10 minutes
- Cook Time: 3-5 minutes
- Total Time: 27 minute
- Yield: ~24 waffles
Ingredients
- Cake Mix (any flavor works-we used chocolate)
- Cake Mix Ingredients (whatever your particular mix requires to make it)
- Ice Cream
- Toppings of Your Choice
- Whipped Cream
Instructions
Prepare your cake batter as indicated on the cake mix box.
Heat up your waffle iron. Pour the batter into it, just like you would with regular waffle batter.
Cook the waffles in the waffle iron.
Then remove and top with ice cream.
Add toppings like chocolate sauce or hot fudge, peanut butter or caramel sauce, crushed cookies or candies, sprinkles, whipped cream, really anything you want!
Obviously this is a super simple idea, but we think your friends and family will get a kick out of it! And they taste GREAT!
