Isn’t there something so fun about Halloween? I can’t decide which part is my favorite. Is it the fall colors? All of the candy? Or maybe it’s the fun costumes? What I am sure about is that I love a fun Halloween party.

If you are hosting a Halloween party this year, this spooky Rice Krispies treat is the perfect addition to your party. It’s easy to make, yummy to eat, and I promise that it will be a guest favorite!

Rice Krispies Halloween Party Treat:

If you have never made Rice Krispies treats before, let me ease your mind. They are SO easy. You really can’t mess them up. I will share the recipe and all of my tips and tricks below:

Recipe:

• 10.5 oz mini marshmallows
• 3 Tablespoon butter
• 1/5 teaspoon vanilla
• 3/4 Cup red velvet cake mix
• 6 Cup crispy rice cereal
• 1/2 teaspoon red food coloring

1. Melt butter in a saucepan over low heat.
2. Add marshmallows. Make sure to stir continuously until they are melted.
3. Remove from heat.
4. Add the vanilla, cake mix, and food coloring. Mix well. You can add more food coloring if the color doesn’t look right.
5. Mix in the crispy rice cereal. I have found it easiest to add little bits at a time. You should be left with ooey gooey deliciousness.

Once you are done, spoon the Rice Krispies onto a foam meat tray and cover it with cling wrap.

How fun and spooky is that?! All that you have left to do is print our tag. I have it all ready for you!

Through the years I have been in charge of class Halloween parties many, many, many times and bingo is always my go-to game. It’s so simple and fun.

Halloween Bingo:

Aren’t these bingo cards so cute? And the best part is that all you need to do is print them out.

There are 10 different bingo cards meaning you can have 10 kiddos play at one time. Usually when I do a class party I split the class into smaller groups and have them rotate to different centers. That keeps the group small enough to manage easily.

The boards are saved as a PDF so you can print them easily. There are two per page making them 5×7. I recommend laminating the boards so you can use them year after year.

Halloween Bingo Draw Cards

Here’s how to play:

Give each child a bingo board and some place markers (marshmallows, candy corn, Teddy Grahams, or any small item to fill the bingo square). Draw one draw card. The children will match the pictures to their boards. If the pictures are the same they cover one of their squares with a marker. Keep going until one of the children have 5 squares covered in a row (diagonal, horizontal, or vertical). When that happens the child would yell “Bingo” and you can start another round.

Another option is to play blackout. In this version you would keep playing until one child has their entire board covered.

So, what do you do when your oldest kiddo is turning 18? You throw a huge glow in the dark party. And let me just say…it was HUGE! Seriously guys, I let the birthday boy be in charge of the invitations and we stopped counting at 100 guests! I didn’t even know he knew that many people. You know how they say it’s not a party until the cops are called? Well, let’s just say…it was a party (he,he)!!

But really, the glow in the dark was a hit and so simple to put together. I have all the details so you can throw a really fun party of your own.

Glow in the Dark Party:

How fun does this look? I had a DIY glow stick chandelier, glow in the dark balloon arch, and lots more fun lighting to make our party pop.

I started our party planning with a trip to Amazon. Yep, almost everything I needed for this party came to our door courtesy of Amazon. It was so simple and super cost effective.

That’s everything I used for this party…other than the food.

So, can we talk about how cute this glow stick chandelier is? And seriously, it’s super simple to make. Here are all the deets.

Glow in the Dark Party Decorations:

This little cutie is super simple. And everything you need was listed above in the shopping items. But you will need a grinder, hack saw, sawzall, or anything to cut through the metal on a tomato cage.

Step #1:

Start with a tomato cage.

Step #2

Using your grinder (or whatever you are using to cut the metal), simply cut below the second tier. You want to end with two rings. You can decide what size you want. If you want your chandelier to be larger you’ll use the top two rings. If you want it to be smaller, use the bottom two.

You’ll end up with something similar to this. 

Step #3

Spray paint using black spray paint.

Step #4

Last step…simply add the glow sticks. You may want to wait until you are closer to your party time to do this last step so you can break the glow sticks and hang them. They will stay shining for lots of hours so you can do this well before your party.

The glow sticks we ordered from Amazon fit perfectly on the ring of the tomato cages.

I wanted this chandelier to shine bright for everyone to see so I placed it in the center of the room. I lined my ceiling with colorful table clothes fanning out from the center of the room. And in the center I hung the chandelier with fishing line. The fishing line worked perfectly so it wouldn’t be seen and held the weight perfectly.

I added a fun glow in the dark balloon arch over the food table. It was so fun.

Glow in the Dark Balloon Arch:

Putting a balloon arch together could not be simpler. I made this one the “old fashioned” way with tying all of the balloons on a string and scrunching them together. But I’ve also used a balloon arch kit and they make it even simpler.

For this arch I used a combination of balloons. Some glow in the dark, some LED balloons, and some regular balloons. To get a super cute balloon arch it’s best to use all shapes and sizes. The polka dotted balloons I found on Amazon were hands down my favorites. They added such a fun pattern to the arch and they glowed really well.

I hung this bad boy above my food table using more fishing line. It really made the food table come alive.

As far as the rest of the decorations, I kept it simple. I hung black table cloths on the walls so it would be darker for the glow sticks to really pop. We replaced the light bulbs in the area with blacklight bulbs, and hung some of the disco lights in the corners of the room.

I made sure to have plenty of glow sticks on hand so each guest could take as many as they wanted. The extra glow sticks were a perfect addition to the food table to add some more fun color.

I also snagged this fun sign from Amazon and hung it on an empty wall. It was the perfect place to take some selfies.

Such a fun neon party and the teens LOVED it. And I loved planning a party for my “to cool for school” 18 year old!

Playing this emoji game for Halloween is simple. You will need to print a copy of the game for each player. Provide each player a pen/pencil so they can write their answers. The rest of the game is simple. Determine how long you want to give your players to complete the game. The time you give will depend on how quickly you think your players will guess the movies (you may want to time yourself for a good idea how long to give).

Have each player start the game with their papers turned over so they can’t peek. When you say to start the players will turn over their papers and guess as many as they can within the time. When time has run out, each player will stop guessing and you can review the answers.

You remember the rage a few years back about the saran wrap game for Christmas time? It went viral on the internet as people planned their Christmas parties with big balls of saran wrap with hidden prizes inside. I played that game and had fun doing it (and in fact, just as a gag, I wrapped my mother-in-law’s Christmas presents the same way).

The thing is, this game was something we played as kids and loved, but my mom did a simpler version, perfect for little kids, using toilet paper or crepe paper.

This idea makes a perfect Halloween game for kids because you can make it look like a mummy! How fun is that?

Just be ready to listen to your little ones giggle as they play this!

But now let’s take a look at this one!

Halloween Games for Kids:

This one is super easy and you don’t need too much to get ready.

Supplies Needed: 

• 2-3 rolls of toilet paper (depending on how big you want it to be-the one in the picture has 2 rolls)
• Small prizes to roll into the mummy. This can be cheap toys from the dollar store or little treats, anything you think the kids would like
• Googly eyes to make it look like a mummy
• Dice

How to Set Up the Game: 

Gather all of your prizes.

Pick a fun prize for the center of the game (this could be a big one if you’d like). Then start wrapping toilet paper around the prize. Just keep rolling and adding prizes:

Until you get to the desired size.

Carefully wrap the eyes into the toilet paper ball. Then tuck the end of the toilet paper under another piece and you are all set!

How to Play:

Have the kids sit in a circle on the floor. Take turns rolling the die (single dice). If they roll a 1 they get to start unwrapping the mummy and they keep any prizes they get. If someone else rolls a 1, they must pass the mummy to that person. Keep playing until the mummy is entirely unwrapped.

Variations on the Game:

If you want to make this a little bit harder for older kids, here are a few variations you could try.

Option 1: Have oven mitts the players must put on before they start unwrapping the mummy. This will slow them down in the process of unwrapping.

Option 2: Make the unwrapping player use only one hand to unwrap the mummy.

I know that murder in the dark sounds more like a nightmare than a fun party game…but trust me, it’s a blast to play. I play this murder in the dark game with my family all of the time and it’s so fun. Plus, it’s so simple to put together and requires no planning. And is perfect for large groups.

I will show you how I play, and give you some ways to tweak it depending on who you are playing with.

Fun Murder in the Dark Game:

Murder in the Dark is basically a suspenseful hide and go seek game played in the dark with a little mystery of who is “killing” off the players.

It’s played in the dark, with a designated “murderer” and it’s up to the rest of the players to discover who the guilty person is while trying to stay alive.

My family and I started to play this game when the youngest child was 10 and he loved it. I’m not sure I would recommend playing with younger kids because it’s played in the dark and could get scary. With that being said, you need to know your audience and cater the rules to them.

Supplies Needed:

• Any Type of Cards: Face Cards, Uno Cards, Old Maid…anything will work. You will need one card for each player.
• A place to place that is big enough for a group to walk around, and is free from things on the ground so your players won’t trip. This can be played outside, in a house, or any building.

How to play Murder in the Dark-

First things first, decide which card is the “murder” card. For instance, if you are playing with face cards you can choose the ace of spades to be the “murder” card (or the reverse card with Uno, or the Old Maid…you get the idea). This card will determine who will be the murderer in each round of the Murder in the Dark Game.

• Establish a gathering point (if you are playing in a home you may choose the family room to be your gathering place) this will be the place everyone will come to when the round is finished.
• When the players are gathered, place the cards face down on a table (laying out one card per player). Each player will select a card and look at it, but doesn’t show anyone else. Only the murder card matters, the rest of the cards means you will playing as a “civilian.” Once the players have looked at their cards, gather them back up and set them aside. Make sure to let the group know what card is the murder card before they choose their cards. We want to make sure the murderer knows who they are!
• While all your players are gathered, explain the rules including the playing area. For example, you may want the bathrooms to be “off limits” or any other rooms you don’t want players in. You will also want to decide how the murderer will do their murders. Some examples could include a tap on the head or shoulder or a pretend slit of the throat (again, cater to your crowd and decide what will work best).
• Once the rules have been explained and the cards chosen you are ready to start the round.

Playing Murder in the Dark Party Game:

• Turn lights off (we keep a couple lights on in places like stairs, or just a few night lights around so the players can see a little bit). Everyone can go their own way. If you are playing with nervous players or younger players they may want to go in pairs. But beware, Danetta once hid with her “nervous” 10 year old son who was actually the murderer. Needless to say, she was out of the game quickly!
• Civilian Rules: There are several strategies you can use here. Some people may want to find a great hiding place and wait for the round to be done, staying out of sight the entire time. While others may want to walk around, trying to see what is happening so they can figure out who the “murderer” is. Some people like to stay seen, thinking they can escape being murdered because there are too many witnesses. There is no talking allowed during the round.
• If a civilian comes upon another player who is not moving they ask that player if they are “dead.” That player can answer with a simple yes or no. If the answer is no, the other player moves on not revealing their hiding spot, if the answer is yes, the player who is alive yells “Murder in the Dark.” At that time, all players return to the gathering point (including any players who were “murdered” during the round).
• Murderer Rules: The murderer gives no indication they are the murderer. They will leave when all of the other players leave. The objective for the murderer is to get as many people as possible per round. The murderer wins if they can get all players before they are discovered. There are several strategies for the murderer. They can hide in once place, murdering players as they come by. Or they may want to walk around to discover where the other players are. The main objective is to remain undiscovered as the murderer. The actual murder happens when the murderer gets a player alone and then uses the signal previously decided. At that point, the murderer can tell that player to move within a 3 foot area (the murderer may want to hide the player so they won’t be easily discovered). The murderer then moves on to more players.

How to Win This Fun Party Game:

• Once all of the players have gathered, the murdered players will gather so you know how many people were murdered. They can’t say ANYTHING! The remaining players (including the murderer) then discuss who is the guilty party. The players discuss anything they want for 2 minutes. They may want to ask where the body was found at which point another player may know who was around that specific room. The players will use that 2 minutes to decide who is guilty. After the time is up, a vote is taken. When the majority votes on a specific player, that player then admits if they are the murderer. If they are, the game is over and another game can begin by selecting new cards. If the accused is not the murderer, they are out of the game and sit with the other murdered players during the next round (they all stay in the gathering area during the next round). The next round then begins and the process is repeated until the murderer is discovered or everyone is dead.

It’s such a fun game to play! My family plays this at family reunions, parties, really anytime they are together. Such fun!

It’s one of our favorite Halloween games for adults because adults are fun to watch draw!

To play, simply split your group in half so you have two teams. Each team selects a “drawer” and the rest of the team are the “guessers.” The two people drawing will look at the same card, meaning they will draw the same thing. When you say go, they both start to draw while their teams guess what they are drawing. The first team to guess wins. No talking allowed by the drawer.

All you need for this game are the cards with things to draw, markers/pens, and paper or a white board to draw on. If you are using paper, we suggest using large paper like butcher paper so all of the guests can easily see what’s being drawn.

Halloween Charades:

Have you player charades lately? It’s not very often we as adults are asked to run around a room looking like a goof ball, but a Halloween party is the perfect chance to do just that! And what’s even better? It takes very little prep for you as a hostess.

Charades is simply acting something out without saying any words. If you want to make teams for this game you can. It would be played very similarly to pictionary with both teams having an “actor” and the rest of the team being “guessers.” Both actors would take their turns at the same time.

If you don’t want to split into teams, you can totally play this game all together. You would just have one “actor” and the rest of the guests would guess.

You can use the same list from above for charades, but if you are playing both games here are some more suggestions. Again, you’ll just write these suggestions on a piece of paper and have the “actor” choose a card.

I’ve spent a lot of years as room moms for various kids and various grades, and I know the last-minute crunch that comes around Halloween time. You’re trying to make sure all of the kids have costumes ready, you need candy for the trick or treaters, and the last thing you need is to be frantically trying to pull together fun games for the kids Halloween party.

No worries because I’ve got some fun Halloween minute to win it games ready for you and they’re not only fun to play, they are super easy to pull together, and you’ll have time to spare to get yourself in a costume too!

But these fun minute to win it games are not just great for kid’s Halloween parties, they are fun for adult parties too. You can use them for any age and minute to win it games are always a hit!

And also, Halloween parties are just FUN! I think you should throw one, whether it’s a Halloween class party, one for the kids at home or one for your adult friends. They are too fun to skip!

Halloween Minute to Win It Games:

Here are a bunch of ideas, just pick and choose what works for you!

Spider Catch Minute to Win It Game:

Supplies Needed: 

• Plastic spiders or spider rings
• Chopsticks
• Bowls or plates

This game is super simple. Each player has a pile of spiders and a pair of chopsticks. Set up one bowl or plate with spiders on it and then another a little ways away (depending on how much space you have and how hard you want to make it).

Each player has 1 minute to move as many spiders as they can from one plate to the other using just the chopsticks. The player that moves the most spiders wins! (They may have to get creative with the chopsticks if they aren’t able to use them very well. This will add to the fun!)

Halloween Scramble Game:

Supplies Needed: 

• One Halloween Scramble Game Board for each player
• Pen or pencil for each player

This one is SUPER simple. Give the players one minute to make as many words as they can from the word Halloween by scrambling the letters in any order they want (for example, hello or we). The only rules are they’ve got to be real words and they can use only the letters in Halloween and can only use each letter as many times as it’s in the word Halloween (so 2 l’s and 2 e’s but 1 of each other letter).  The person with the most words at the end of one minute wins.

Or, for another twist on this (particularly for older kids or adults), have them read their words aloud and they have to cross off any words that someone else in the group has. This way the person with the most creative words ends up winning!

Candy Corn Shuffle Minute to Win It Game:

Supplies Needed: 

• Straws (plastic are likely to work best)
• Candy corn
• Plates

This one is similar to the spider one mentioned above. Fill a plate with candy corn (or just use a tabletop). Players have one minute to suck through the straw to pick up a candy corn and move it from one place to another specified place in one minute. The player who moves the most wins! (And gets to eat candy corn…yum!)

Witch Hat Toss:

Supplies Needed: 

• Witch hat (can be a real one that you’d wear or a decoration
• Rings (you could get glow sticks for this and put two together into a ring)

Place the witch hat on the floor and then make a line on the floor a ways from the hat (how far apart you put these is going to depend on how old your players are and how hard you want to make it). Players then toss the rings and try to loop them on the top of the witch hat. The player that gets the most around the witch hat in one minute wins!

For a more difficult twist, you could blindfold them or make them use their non-dominant hand.

I Want Candy Race:

Supplies Needed: 

• Bag of candy (or multiple depending on how many players you will have)

Players have 1 minute to unwrap as many candies as they can…but the trick is, they can only use one hand! The player who unwraps the most candy during that time wins!  

Make a Mummy Minute to Win it Game:

Supplies Needed: 

• Toilet paper rolls

Divide the players into small teams of 2-3 people. Give them each 2 rolls of toilet paper. One person is the mummy and the others have to roll them up in the toilet paper as fast as possible. The first ones done win!

Stack the Gourds Game:

Supplies Needed:

•  Small pumpkins (you know-these tiny ones that are about hand-sized that you can find around Halloween. Or you can get fake ones like we did from the dollar store)

Give each player or team of players (2-3) people a pile of small pumpkins and they have 1 minute to stack as many as they can without having them fall over. The trick….they can’t use their hands! They will have to get creative to do this (feet, elbows) and it will get a little tricky! Whoever can stack the most wins!
